    Dundas Hut has a palpable sense of isolation by Tararua standards.  Nestled on a bench 200m below the main range and surrounded by steep country and vigorous leatherwood growth. Sleeps: 6 Heating: The burner has been removed, so it is an ice box. Camping: No.

  • Eastern Hutt

    Eastern Hutt hut lies within the catchment area for Wellingtons water supply and as such cannot be used as an overnight destination.  Day trips only please. Sleeps: 6 if you must know but you're not allowed! Heating: A potbelly, that you won't need to use for your lunchbreak anyway. Camping: Why would you ask?

  • Herepai Hut

    Herepai hut is 1.5-3 hrs from Putara roadend and is a good friday night destination for exploring Dundas ridge and the headwaters of the Ruamahanga, it is also the first hut on the modern Putara-Kaitoke (P-K) trip.  A Tararua rite of passage is a weekend P-K. Sleeps: 12 on two bench bunks. Heating: A potbelly. Camping: No.

  • Holdsworth Lodge

    Booking is required for this roadend facility.  It is located beyond the carpark at Mt Holdsworth. Sleeps: A million?? Heating: Potbelly. Camping: Almost unlimited.

    Situated at the bush edge below Jumbo peak.  Part of the popular Holdsworth-Jumbo loop. Sleeps: 24 on bench bunks. Heating: Potbelly, coal available in winter (gas for cooking though).
