New South Ohau hut. Built just next door to the old hut site, but hopefully far enough along to avoid the slip. It is nice and sunny and a pleasant enough hut in a scummy little catchment.
Sleeps: 12 or so on bench bunks.

Alpha Hut, a large hut on the famous Southern Crossing route. A welcome sight after the climb from Hells Saddle or dropping from the summit of Alpha.
Sleeps: at least 24 on bench bunks.
Heating: A potbelly - finding dry firewood is a real problem.
Tent space: Not really.

Andersons Memorial hut. Situated at the bush egde on the main range just below Junction Knob.
Sleeps: 6 on comfortable wooden bunks.
Heating: A new potbelly.
Camping: Some tops camping nearby (can be swampy and lots of long tussock).

New North Ohau hut built with help from Swazi and the Horowhenua Hunting club. Situated on a terrace up the North Ohau river.
Sleeps: 4
Heating: A vigorous little wood burner
Camping: Yes there is some good camping on flats below the hut terrace

The new Maungahuka on a great day. Perched on the tops of main Tararua range.
Sleeps: 10-12 on 2 bench bunks
Heating: None, though it is double glazed.
Camping: Some tops camping, though of course you'd want weather like this to really enjoy it.

Carkeek after its interior and exterior paint job in 2004. Dry wood can be a problem up in the mist at Carkeek, please fill the wood bin before leaving, good wood can be found if you walk more than 2 mins from the hut.
Sleeps: Six
Heating: Wood burner but note comment about wood.
Camping: Limited, but we did get 18 people here one ...

A frosty June morning at a (then) freshly painted Kime Hut. Situated on the 'Southern Crossing' between Bridge peak and Field Peak.
Sleeps: About 24.
Heating: No (a real icebox).
