This old hut was removed in 2005.  The new hut is a definite improvement.  Located on river flats in the Ruamahanga river below Cattle Ridge.

  • Maungahuka Hut (old)

This hut was replaced in 2006.  On a good day there are wonderful views of the Otaki and Waiohine catchments, while on a usual day this hut can feel a long way away from civilization.  A place that has seen its fair share of epics.

  • Kime Hut (old paint job)

A famous (and cold!) Tararua hut, located on the Southern Crossing.  Spectacular on a good day, but expect cold and clag.  The hut is now cream and red.
