  • Waiopehu Hut (old)

Another image of the old and rat infested Waiopehu Hut.  The new one is better in every way - but is further up the hill making those friday nights a real slog!

  • Waitewaewae Hut

'YTYY' is the only hut on the lovely Otaki River (if you exclude Parawai lodge).  4hrs from Otaki Fx.  Located near the base of the track up to Shoulder Knob on the Main Range. Sleeps: 16 or so on bench bunks. Heating: Potbelly. Camping: Campsites can be found in the bush, and there is excellent camping further up the Otaki.

  • Snowy River Hut

Not marked on any maps but the name gives all the clue you need.  Not one to visit with rain in the forecast.... Sleeps: Four. Heating: I haven't been there for 6 years and thought it was an open fire but it looks like a chimney of a burner in the photo. Camping: Yes on the river bank.
