  • Tramping this Weekend?

Hi Everyone I'm back from adventures down south and this weekend we have another long weekend and a good opportunity for an extended tramp or some other activities. The calendar event is a trip to Carkeek hut but I may be taking my dad to the Wairarapa air show instead...but this doesn't mean that the trip or some alternative can't happen ...

  • Re: Extended pre-Christmas trip

Further, or in addition to this would anyone be keen to shadow a Duke of Edinburgh tramping party? They are a keen group of 1st year venturers trying to finish their Gold Duke of Edinburgh.  They would like to complete their gold tramp before the end of January but need to do a practice tramp first and then notify the DoE 6 weeks prior to the ...

  • Aorangis/Cape Palliser trip this weekend

Hey All, The trip this weekend is heading to the Aorangis/Cape Palliser area and has the potential to include tramping, lounging in the sun, swimming in waterfalls, camping and marshmellows.  There may be options to do either a traverse of the Aorangis leaving Welly on Friday night or have a lazy weekend leaving on Saturday morning.  ...

  • Caught out up the Joe

A Monday afternoon in the rain at Rasberry Flat.  Quentin, Emma and I met Eric and Graham and sorted our gear.  Emma was a late addition to the team so we threw in a bivy bag and tents for 4. The Matukituki was a usual slog up a cow valley, and at Pearl flat we headed up to Liverpool biv which was a nice quick climb with heavy ...

  • Tararua Tramping This Weekend

Hi Everyone   This weekend I’m keen to head into the Tararuas for a weekend tramp.   If I can bag my (this time) last Tararua hut (South Ohau) that will be all the more satisfying.   At present the tentative plan is to head into the Northern Tararuas on Friday night.  From there, depending on interest and fitness ...

  • Hooker/Solution Range: Christmans 2007

The Paringa has to be one of the easier West Coast rivers to get up. Standing on the Paringa Bridge on SH6 no gorge sits between you and the mountains of the Hooker range. The farmland is even pretty tolerable! After a pleasant amble with overloaded packs, we spent the last few hours of Boxing Day at the Condons private hut, in the company ...
