  • Otukota hut

    A tidy six bunk hut on a high terrace above the lower Mangatera. Sleeps: Six bunks Heating: A corker cooker Camping: Yes some around the hut.  Watch out for the rubbish pit and wasps!

  • Dead Dog

    Dead Dog sits on a sunny terrace way up Big Hill stream.  It gets very little use, and that use is almost exclusively hunters.  Access can be a problem, the closest roadends all require permission.  We dropped in via an old track off Herrick Spur and climbed up to No Mans road to exit the valley.   • Daphne hut

    Daphne hut is a quirky but somewhat charmless A-Frame at a major junction in the Tukituki river. Sleeps: 12 or so on two bench bunks Heating: A nice little pot belly Camping: Yes some around the hut - but it doesn't get a lot of sun

  • North Ohau

    New North Ohau hut built with help from Swazi and the Horowhenua Hunting club.  Situated on a terrace up the North Ohau river. Sleeps: 4 Heating: A vigorous little wood burner Camping: Yes there is some good camping on flats below the hut terrace

  • Maungahuka

    The new Maungahuka on a great day.  Perched on the tops of main Tararua range. Sleeps: 10-12 on 2 bench bunks Heating: None, though it is double glazed. Camping:  Some tops camping, though of course you'd want weather like this to really enjoy it.

    Stunning location. Sleeps: About 12 on two platforms and a space above the door, 8 is more comfortable Heating: A superb burner and a good supply of coal provided by the huts custodians Heretaunga Tramping Club Camping: Limited around the hut.
