Yup, Tablelands very easy walking, nice though. Balloon hut is nice. Sailsbury Lodge is, well, err, large. Rock shelters are neat.
It's a nice walk over Gordons Pyramid too, well it was in a blizzard, so I'm sure summer blue skies won't detract from it too much.

I'm planning on being down in the Golden Bay/Nelson area around New Years and was looking for some suggestions of good 2 or 3 day tramps to do in the area. Anyone got any suggestions?
Thinking about Mt Arthur/Tablelands - anyone done this track and know what it's like?
Cheers,
James

Heya!
Just wondering if anyone else would be keen to spend a couple of days tramping in the holidays, no compulsory gender-bending, no ingestion of potentially toxic flora, hopefully no frostbite, just fun in the bush?

Calling in at tramping mission control in Kumara, Quentin mentioned that he was doing a trip with Andrew McCrorie an ex HVTC member now living in the UK and asked if Hannah and I wanted to come. Their plan was to cross from the Styx to the Waimakariri so Andrew could get the bus back to Christchurch and fly home. A three passes ...

The King Country is renowned for many things. Colin Meads, Jim Bolger, Colin Meads, umm, ....., well, uh, Coli..... OK it's not renowned for many things and one of the many things it is not renowned for is tramping.
