I'm lying upside down with my legs in the air. My pack is jammed against the slippery log I had been standing on five seconds earlier. I stand up wincing and kicking myself for rushing. Up ahead I can hear Quentin burrowing into another thicket. The boat is only 10 minutes behind us but may as well be on the other side of Lake Te Anau. A few ...

Yep, in addition to possible tubing, the calendar trip this week is a Maungahuka loop. Should the tubing still go then there should also be scope to have a Maungahuka trip or some tramping variation depending on sign ups and what people want to do, probably in from Holdsworth. That said, I'll have a sign sheet at the meeting tomorrow night to gage ...

Hey hey,
Weekend after this (23-24 February) I'm rather keen to go tubing down the Waiohine River in the Tararuas, from Mid Waiohine to Totara Flats. I haven't done it, but by all accounts its a rugged little bit of river with quite a few drops, rapids and long deep gorges so probably not for the inexperienced!

Hazel was keen for something and needs to be back Saturday afternoon, so could be a good running/fast walking trip there... and easier options may be available depending on whose interested.

Our plan is to ferry down on ...

I'm keen to organise a trip this weekend into either the Tararuas or Ruahines leaving Friday night from the Hunter car park and getting back sometime on Sunday evening. The trip will probably be about a medium level but depends on keenness of those ...

Hello all,
If anyone's wants to do a weekend tramp email Alyn at Alyn.Higgins@hanz.org.nz to register interest. I think hes got plans for a good keen Tararua mission if enough people are interested.
Otherwise, I'm organising a day trip which will be happening on Sunday - not to sure where yet, but one idea is to do a car swap between Akatarawa ...

Hello,
If i am not solely tempted by climbing, you may be able to pull me away for a few tramps...
There is the kaituna, which is a lovely 8hr day tramp or a cruisy two day tramp in the bush with a few nice views!
Then of course there is the cobb valley... I think that speaks for itself! i have actualy only been back there once (shame on my ...

My general plans are as follows.
I’m heading down on 21 December and will be tramping in Nelson Lakes for Christmas, coming out on 26th then hanging about/relaxing in the Marlborough Sounds for a few days before heading to Golden bay for New Years, so I'd be keen to meet up and hitch a lift with someone heading to Golden Bay from Picton on ...

Hey with all the people going to be down south over the next few months, would be good to get an idea of what people are up to (and when) so we can coordinate some cool trips!
So post details here (or email me) of when your going to be down there, what you want to do (and how flexible you are), whether you have transport, accommodation etc. And ...
