    Mountaineering Boots for rent?

    Hey guys,

I need some mountaineering boots for summer as I'm doing an expedition in the Andes.  I don't really want to buy boots, as I don't think I'll be likely to use them again anytime soon after summer, so am keen to rent instead.  Anyone know where I might be able to rent some from?  Or someone want to let me borrow theirs (I'm about a 12 or 13 US)?

Or if renting/borrowing doesn't work out, anyone know a good but cheap place to source some mountaineering boots?

    Cheers,

    James

Trade Me is good for cheap ones....

     Have you tried Bivouac?

What do you need?  Plastics?  High altitude ones? Just a solid transalpine boot?

     what you going to climb?

Yeah, had a look at TradeMe but none in my size.

I haven't tried Bivouac yet though.

Planning on climbing Mt Aconcagua, so something to keep my toes nice and warm would be good as it's close to 7,000m.  Not really sure if I need plastics or not... any advice on when they're needed/should be used?

I would use plastics at less than 7000m :)   or good insulated leather/ gortex boots. I imagine guiding companies in

Something burly i think, there are a few mountaineering boots on trademe atm but nothing size 12-13

Bivouac only rents hiking boots i think, nothing solid enough for Aconcagua.

I would think renting fomr guiding companies over there would be very possible though? best to email ahead
