    diving

Hi guys & girls. I thought it would be great to post an alternative club event; scuba diving. As a recent graduate of Padi open water I invite people along for a dive this Saturday. You will need to hold a padi card! the cost of full hire  $35. Will see you at Tuesday's meeting. shawn.

    Thanks,

    Re: diving

I have my Advanced Open Water PADI, would be pretty keen to get back into the water - esp. to see the F69 - been meaning to do that for a while!

    Re: diving

    Hey Shawn,

Cool pic! (No worries, think I recognised it as mine from the Ruahines trip...)

And cool idea! I'd be really keen to dive the frigate, as well. It's not far from the lab and my flat, but for some reason I never made it. Another freaky option would be the Kapiti marine reserve. The vis tends to be better over there and heaps of cool fish are almost guaranteed.

(I've got my PADI advanced + rescue diver but haven't been scuba diving since several month now.)

Where did you get this cheap offer? It's for a shore dive I assume? Well, let's keep in touch (and an eye on the weather forecast).

    Cheers,

    Nicolai

    Shore Dive

OK. This weekend (Saturday) will have to be a shore dive. We could dive the Pen Yaun wreak in the bay before red rocks. That would be fun and a good start for next weekend anyway. The weather should be good so If you guys are keen send a text to me @027 226 8342.

Also we Maybe able to get on a boat going to the frigate next weekend, so if anyone is interested in that let me know so i can at least ask and put down names.

    from splash gorden's site
"Next weekend we will be running a boat charter Sunday and Monday morning for dive club members. This will be one dive off the boat and guides will be available. A great way to see the F69 frigate or do a crayfish dive for newly certified divers. $50 includes gear hire or $25 without. Book now as at these prices charters will fill quickly."

    Re: Shore Dive

Sweet! Just got the same newsletter. I'm still keen for F69. Should be good!

(The Young Penn (did you mean that one?) is off Owhiro Bay: Not much to see there. Just some rusty rubble abd bits and pieces.)

    Cheers,

    Re: Shore Dive

    Hi,

I am definitly interested in the dive next weekend! (I better be well by then!). Please put my name down. I would need to borrow gear. I have my own wetsuit, fins, mask and snorkle but thats it. As I havn't done all that much diving I'm not sure if I would be up for the F69 or should just do the crayfish dive.

     Thanks,

    Terra

    Re: Shore Dive

Hey, you should all of course be tramping round getting cold and lost for 3 days in the snowy ruahines next weekend - none of this investigating shipwrecks, that sounds like way too much fun...

    frigate dive next Sunday morning

    Kai ora.

Well looks promising for a frigate dive next Sunday morning. I will try to pen in names this Saturday if they let me; it could cost more than the $50. The Frigate is 600 meters from the shore, hence a boat, and in 18-22 meters of water.

This Saturday I plan to do a shore dive somewhere. We could dive Houghton Bay, but lets decide on the day. So i propose to meet at Splash Gorden's around 9am. I am happy to give people a lift in my car.

    Ka kite (see ya)

Re: frigate dive next Sunday morning

All good, mate! Awesome spot with lots of cool under water canyons. We could have some sort of a lunch feast or BBQ at my place afterwards (in Island Bay -almost right on the beach...!). Bring eatable stuff to chuck on the barbie. We could try and get some crays!!

Have got spare wetsuits and another mask/ snorkel- just in case Splash ran out of gear :)

Pirates!! Yeah, watched the new movie yesterday nite/ this morning (part 3). Really cool. -Hoist the colours! Bring the rum!

    Cheers,

    Nicolai
