  • Summer Meetings

From next week (26 Oct) and over the summer, we will be having our Tuesday meetings at the Welsh Dragon bar at the end of Courtney Pl.  Come along, have a drink, share some stories and find out about upcoming trips!
  • Summer Calendar

The University year is just about over.  We will still be active, so keep an eye on the website.  The Summer Calendar will be available soon.

Over the summer, we are a bit more flexible about when trips go.  With people going home or away from Wellington for the summer, if there is not enough interest one weekend, we may have the trip on a different date when more people are around who want to do that trip.  If you want to run a trip not on the calendar, put a post on the website to encourage others to come on the trip.

  • The Last Supper

This Tuesday at the earlier time of 7pm we are having The Last Supper.  Instead of having our meeting at the Student Union Building, we are going to have dinner at Hede Cafe and Bar.  Located at 43 Cuba St and with BYO wine.  The much coveted trophies of Tramper of the Year, Climber of the Year and Piker of the Year will be awarded.  Come and celebrate the end of the academic (and tramping) year!

    NEXT TUESDAY

Next week is the all important Annual General Meeting where we get together and elect a new commitiee.  This is critically important for the continuation of the club.  We rely on people stepping up to make things happen.  It looks great on your CV!  So please have a think about what you can do for your club!

  • Tuesday meeting - "The Hidden Tararuas"

    Hi all

This Tuesday as a lead-up to the hut bagging weekend there is a special guest at the club night.  Jonathan Kennett, ex-VUWTC and well known adventurer (and author of the super-classic MTB'sing guidebook) will be coming to talk.  His talk will focus on some of the hidden gems of the Tararuas - from the remote little huts to the deep green gorges.

Jonathan has just released a guide book to adventures in the Tararuas and will be selling these for a discounted price.  It's a great read full of useful trip ideas and some great photos so come along and pick up a copy ($20).

There will also be a sign-up for the trip on the weekend - although feel free to sign up here too.

We've got just under 30 people so far, so it'll be a really fun weekend.  We still need more though!  If you can only do a day trip or part of the weekend eg Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun, don't worry there will be groups going at those times.

If you can take off early on the Friday and get started, all the better too!

I've started putting people in groups and outlining some trips, so if you want to discuss where you might go come along on Tuesday and we can chat after the meeting.  I'll email all the leaders after that and they'll be in touch with food and transport etc by the middle of the week.

There is a big-*** storm hammering the country this weekend, so it must be good for next weekend eh ;-)

see you all on Tuesday - and in the hills on the 25/26 September!!

    Richie

There will also be details about the trip this weekend.
