The NZ rogaine champs - The Peggioh Merry-Go-Round - was held in Marlborough on the weekend, in the dry barren hills between the Flaxbourne and Waima rivers.  There were lots of ex-vuwtc members taking part, and three current members (some of whom did quite well!) in the 24hr dash to navigate to as many points as possible.

Hazel Bidmead and her Dad Ross planned well and delivered a quality, measured rogaine performance to finish 7th overall, they were also the 4th Mixed team and the 1st family team home.  Richard Davies and Ben Clendon staggered round the course like a couple of drunken hobos (yes, thats hobos with a b....) and managed to pick up 14th place overall (the 7th mens team home).  Hannah Mcgregor and her teammate Brenda only had one proper rogaine between them but handled the bucolic charms of the course with ease [only if ease means suffering and death - see trip report] and picked up 20th place overall and won the trophy as the top female team. 

For those who are curious, top athletes Richard Ussher and Nathan Fa'avae won from other top athletes George Christison and Chris Morrissey.
