'Aokap' biv is situated just inside the bush edge on the eastern side of Aokaoparangi a main range bump.
Sleeps: 2 or 3 on the floor (if you don't mind rot)
Heating: None
Camping: You could find some tent/fly spots at the bushedge or just outside the biv.
This biv was in poor condition when I last visited, and would not be a desirable place to stay the night - carry a tent/fly. Richie
This photo makes it look like you would stay there. It must be about 30 years old! At the moment, better shelter could be made from piling up the rubbish around the site.
The photo is just over 11 years old! It was looking very nice that day.
Was in there a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't much worse than when last there in 2002. Leaving potatoes in there to sprout doesn't help though.
This hut was removed in 2008 and a new one is in place, photo soon....

^^ Might have the new hut on there but many other Tararua huts I think I might of took pics of.
