Eastern Tararuas 15th to 17th Feb

Thinking/dreaming of two trips, both combining pools and (b)ridges in the north eastern Tararua ranges

    1. Roaring Stag - Cattle Ridge - Dundas - Herepai Loop (somewhere between medium fit and fit)
    2. Blue Range - (Cow Creek -) Cattle Ridge - Roaring Stag - Rumanahanga and back via Cow Saddle and Blue Range (medium fit)

The later has more swimming holes...

Both trips would leave Friday evening and involve a 2 hour drive and 1.5 to 2 hour walk after that (reads: we should be organized).

Send me a mail, if you are keen, let me know which one you prefer or ask questions.

    See you on Tuesday!

This weekend the Dundas Loop is on!

    Friday:
Putara Roadend (@350m) to Roaring Stag (@430m) 7 km via 770m

    Saturday:
Roaring Stag to Dundas Hut (@1220m) 6km via 1200m at Cattle Ridge and Rumanahanga River at 700m
(Mt Dundas is about an hour from the hut Wink )

    Sunday:
Dundas Hut to Herepai Hut 8 km: funny ups and downs with tussock and a minor amount of bush bashing
Herepai Hut to Putara Roadend 4.5 km downhill :-)
