    Stewart Island Trip

For the benefit of Craig or whoever the trip leader might be: I would like to go on the Stewart Island trip.  However, I need to know soon whether or not it's happening.  If you're reading this and are keen to go as well, then I suppose you should post and say so.  Otherwise it might not happen.  Peace.

I'd like to go on that one, too. And I'll bring a friend who is not (yet) a club member and visitting me during easter holidays.

    Re: Stewart Island Trip

    Hey Guys,

I'm still not sure what's happening with my trip to France - looks pretty 50/50 at the moment, so can't confirm exactly what my plans are. However if we can get an idea of who is keen it still possible a trip could go there regardless so let me know - even if I can't make it, hopefully we can find someone else to lead it.

     Cheers,

    Craig

Yip - thats the planned dates, but I wouldn't take that as gospel - depends exactly what everyone is up to.

    Re: Stewart Island Trip

Ok, I'm pretty sure (not 100%) that i aint going to france, so this is back on the cards. Given ollie is doing alpine type stuff in the second week I'd be keen to go in the first week and then go off with ollie in the second week, leaving those who don't want to come/don't have the experience to catch train/bus from Kaikora and then ferry home.

    Suggested Itenary:

leave Thur 5 april night, drive to christchurch, then on Friday drive to bluff and catch 5pm ferry to Stewart Is.

Tramp Sat 7th - 14th/15th depending on what ollie is up to. Drive back 15/16th to Kaikora to go climbing.

Other option is to fly, but it's pretty expensive. Below is a rough costing for the trip - note I say rough!

Have a look through and see if you are possibly keen and lt me know. Email is probably best - ryburncrai@student.vuw.ac.nz

    Flying
    Airfares - Wgtn - Dunedin - Wgtn $538
    Bus - $33 each way $66
Ferry to Stewart Is - $51 each way $102
    Total $706
    Driving
    Interslander - vehicle - $150 each way $300
    Desiel - est $300
    Vehicle storage - est $100
    RUCs & vehicle exp - est $150
    Total vehicle costs $850
Cost pp on interislander - $35 each way $70
Cost pp on Stewart Is ferry - $51 each way $102
Vehicle costs + personal costs split between: 4 people 5 people 6 people 7 people
    $384.50 $342.00 $313.67 $293.43
NOTE: THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY GROUP COSTS SUCH AS FOOD, HUT PASSES ETC.

    Re: Stewart Island Trip

Ok guys, I just got some really good news for me, and some not so good news for you! They've found the extra money, and I'm now on an all expenses paid trip to France for 2 weeks! Obviously this means I aint going to be going to Stewart Is :( BUT that doesn't mean you guys can't go! There are a few people keen. If you email me, I'll make a list of peoples emails and you can sort it yourselves. I'm happy to help if I can.

     Cheers,

     Craig
