Alpine Instruction Course (AIC) 25-27 June

    Hi All,

Our Alpine Instruction Course (AIC) is going to be held 25-27 June.  AIC is where we teach the basics of how to tramp in winter and alpine conditions.  We cover walking on snow, how to use crampons and ice axe for walking in the mountains and how to self arrest if you fall over in the snow.

If you are coming on the mid winter trip, then you should come to AIC to learn the basics of how to handle yourself in the mountains. Also open to those interested in winter tramping, climbing or just having a good time! Limited places though so be in quick.

To sign up to the trip please enter your details here http://vuwtc.org.nz/cs/content/TripSignUp.aspx and we will email you further info during the week before the trip.

We will be meeting at 5.30pm at Hunter carpark on Friday 25th and driving to Ohakune, where we will stay.  AIC will be held on the Turoa ski field.  We will come back on the Sunday night.  The cost of the trip is $60.

AIC is also a really social trip.  Come along, learn some new skills and have a good time!

For any questions, please post a reply to this forum or contact Kieran at patonomatic@gmail.com or turn up to one of the regular Tuesday meetings at the Welsh Dragon Bar, between Kent and Cambridge Terraces.

    Thanks,

    Kieran,
    Co-Treasurer
