    Golden bay climbing - easter

Paynes ford is located in the beautiful golden bay in the south island and is one of the best warmest nicest climbing spots in the country.  Over Easter this year I am planning on going there for a bit of climbing and sun.

Is anyone keen?  I am planning on putting my car on the ferry (early Friday morning coming back Monday / Tuesday)

Will follow up with some more details soon.

And another great reason to come to Paynes is that I will (probably) be there! :) Along with a whole bunch of crazy christchurch UCCC climbers.

Hope to see all your beautiful faces there,

     hugs,

    Terra :)

    Just an uptade on this.

We have one car on going on Thursday Morning (1st) returning Monday evening (5th).  At this stage this car is full on the way there but there is 1 seat comming back.

If we get enough intrest we will put a second car on  the ferry - we are probaly almost there with numbers 2-3 more people needed

Otherwise there are buses and hitch hiking

    I'm seriously thinking about it...

What are we looking at in terms of cost for the weekend, how much is the ferry and how much petrol money will we be giving.

I'm assuming you're looking at leaving after work on Thursday?

Re: Golden bay climbing - easter

Well worth the visit.  At this stage we need enough people to put another car on the ferry.  The plan is catching the 3am bluebridge on the 1st and comming back on the 7pm on the 5th (monday). So that means people who have uni or work will have to skip thursday

Current ferry prices are $130 for a car $55 per person each way. Assuming 4 people in a car

    • $175 Ferries return
    • $24 camping ($6 per night - hangdog)
    • ~$30-$40 petrol (per person return)
    • $50? food for the whole trip (sort out at the super on the way)

    Total: $279

That would probally be as cheep as you could make a southisland trip like this unless you hitchhiked, ate from dumpsters and slept under the bridge at paynes or lived in a hedge - possibly done by other climbers.

It will be a great trip away and well worth comming for 5 days of sun, swimming, climbing, drinking - a total balance of goodness

    - Peter, do you have a car?

Further to this, Our transport is pretty full with one car and a motorbike (7 people between them).  At this stage it is unlikley that we will get another car on.

So if you still want to come and have not organised anything.  You could probaly still snatch a sailing on a ferry andf catch a bus to takaka K bus and naked bus are good.  We would be able to arrange picking you up from Takaka.  The other way is to hitch hike there, but you will need to take care.

We will have gear for climbing that people can use

If you want to conact me 021 04 00 989

Otherwise - have a great easter break and I hope to see you there.
