    Summer / New year

It is that time again to start thinking about summer / New year.  In previous years we have massed a mob together to head down to golden bay to live like hippies for 2 weeks as well as doing some climbing and blah blah.

This year we are looking at heading further south to such places as the Catlins, Wanaka or other exotic southern locations.  The other alternatice would be heading extreme north to northland.

This is just to gauge who would be interested and if anyone has any suggestions.  The dates will probably be 27 December to the first couple of weeks of January

In. If there is anything democratic about this process I vote for north. If there's nothing democratic then well.....

I vote north too. Bay of Islands, Tolaga Bay, Waikaremoana?

    Re: Summer / New year

I am going to be fluctuating between the Bay of Islands and Golden Bay/ Rest of S. Island around this time. Will definitely be in the Bay over Christmas, keen for any shenanigans up that way, i know a bunch of cool spots that way, might beable to steel the boat of dad for a weekend to. And im pretty nifty with the ole speargun if anyone else would be keen?

Far far north, ie. not too far from Cape Reinga is super rugged, surf is bangin, diving/ freediving is productive, i think there are a bunch of walks up there too. And sand boarding is the absolute ***. It would be funny to try and live on the dunes, it would be like desert survival, except with pipi's and snapper and a body board.

    Re: Summer / New year

Sadly that is not possible as bigger and better things than paynes are in store for me prior chirstmas! :) (so really not sadly at all, but you are not all allowed to abandon me for the North Island for New Years!)

    Re: Summer / New year

You are abandoning weeks of care free, send-full sport climbing! We will have to see about NY, i would prefer to be in Golden Bay for the big night anyway. More hippies.
