    Tubing this weekend.

Hay the tubing trip will be on Sunday.    It looks like the rivers will get some good rain on Saturday making for a good trip.   If your keen to come could you email me on Jeremymhaines@gmail.com    Let me know if you have a tube already.  We have some in the gear shed and i will be checking them out this week.   Wet suits are recomended as not only to they keep you warm but also protect against rocks and also provide boyancy.  If you would like a life jacket I have two that people can borrow.   I dont think anyone should come without eithor a wetsuit or life jacket as you do need some boyance if you come of your tube.   Also bring sneakers or boots to wear in the river as some walking may be involved and footware is really handy if you end up swimming a rapid.    Also a bike helmet is good for protecting the head and has good boyancy.   Or you can take a club helmet.    Also bring high energy snack food to eat on the river and have a decent breakfast please.

Depending on river flows I am thinking of  eithor the good old hutt gorge or the turanikau propably spelt diferently.

I can take my van so we can transport tubes already blowen up at the gas station.   Depending on numbers we will most likely need 2 or 3 more cars so let me know if you can bring one.

Any how. so if you keen email me   Jeremymhaines@gmail.com

     Tube yes/no

    Car  yes/no

And tell me what if forgotten too.

       Cheers

                    Jeremy....................:)

    Re: Tubing this weekend.

Tubing is a fantastic trip and is a heap of fun to go on.  I would recommend that you consider a full body wet suit minimum.  6mm diving wet suits are best. From my experience and the cold perhaps affects me more than some people but..

    • 6mm diving wet suit:   Comfortable mostly
    • 3mm Full body surf suit:   Cold but still functioning
    • 3mm short sleeve short legs even with polypro:   Hypothermic paralysis

Splash Gordon and other dive shops will hire full body 7mm dive wetsuits for the day if you are not sure where you can get one or are asking the question “will a bikini be enough”?

Ok I have got pleanty of tubes from the gear shed and blowen them up and have them in my van.  They all are good sizes and seam to be staying up so tubes are all good.

    Hey Jeremy

I will be coming this sunday.  I am on bike or will need a lift. So where do I need to meet people? I have a couple of dry bags if someone needs one.    How long would we be in the water??

     Thanks for texting me Jeremy.

    Re: Tubing this weekend.

Ok so it looks looks there will be 9 of us or so.    Jeremy Van2 and
tubes. Adam, Morgan, Andrew car4, Katie, Alyn car5, Jason car5, Hazel,
    Hannah

There is not much water in the rivers however im still real keen and
recon doing the hutt gorge would be good and then if in a few weeks we
get a good amount of rain we can take it on again with some recent
knowlodge of the river and rapids and any logs etc.

Meeting at hunter carpark at 8am.  Leave hunter car park by 8:15.
We can drive out to the get out place near the speedway.   Change into
our river gear there and leave dry clothes towels and stuff in one car
there.   Drive up to the get in in my van and one other car.    I
think that afterwards we could head to the pool in upperhutt where
they have a great spa and sauna etc, so bring some togs as well even
if your not wearing them in the river.

I have the tubes already inflated in my van so thats all sweet.

If i've got you downfor a car it would be great if you can bring it
as we may need them all.   Can always leave one in the car park
depending on numbers.   And If i've forgotten any one just turn up.
