    rec centre bouldering

any action on the rec centre climbing wall front? I've got some spare time and want to gain some type of climbing competence during the next few months. Be good to get some other people along as well...

I've marked a few climbs recently, yellow stickers and all sit-starts - let me know what you think. I've got no idea what sort of numbers to associate with them, nothing harder than V3/4 I guess?

Also - any objection to moving a bunch of holds? the 10degree wall needs holds up high, and the slab is plastered at the moment

    Re: rec centre bouldering

I know I'm a bit out of the loop now being in a different island and all but alot of the places there aren't holds is because you can't put them there. I know that's the case with the top of the invert slab and the top of the bulge on the overhang. It's because when they revamped the rec centre they shafted us a bit and took half the t-nuts out which means we can't screw holds in those places. I had various meetings with them but got no where... am sure you can move the holds around that are there though and put up some new routes to keep things interesting :)

As for solving the t-nut problem, to get your point across I propose a sit in where you camp over night and drink beer in the boulder room perhaps chanting loudly in protest....

Speaking of climbing.  At the meeting tonight we are have a talk on knots ropes and gates.  So come along, camp the night and drink beer!

    Hey,

Now that I am back into climbing I will be down there every Tuesday 6-7 and possibly other days of the week. It would be awsome to have some one to climb with! I have tried some of your problems but I am not yet back in shape well enough to do them! Shall work on them though :)

Thanks for the info Kate, that's stink about the t-nut problem, how stupid are they?!?

Tera, think i met you once there early last year? me and some other guy were pissing around and did some slab routes, we may have had beards... anyway, cool, may see you some tuesdays then. Those routes are mostly of the project/training flavour. I'll mark up some easier stuff sometime next week. I tend to be there sometime during the day on mondays and thursdays if I'm in wellington and not up to something else... probably won't be there again until at least a week from now though

also. Freyberg. Anyone bothering? I got close to the low traverse there - grade something I guess. And got laughed at last time i bothered using a rope.

    Re: rec centre bouldering

good news is that the t-nuts are mostly fine for the top of the steep slab and the headwall. A few holds have been moved, and a few more are going to be moved. Likely to be close to 20 problems marked soon. No idea of grades, they are seeming easier by the day... Tuesday 6pm there should be a few people, as well as at various late afternoon sessions during the week.
