    Tapuae-O-Uenuku

    Hiya

I'm considering heading down south with some friends in November, and am thinking about climbing Tapuae-o-Uenuku. Has anyone here climbed up at that time of year, have any comments, advice? I hear it's not too technically difficult? If anyone has some wisdom or experiences to divulge i'd be keen to hear them.

     Cheers

Yep I climbed it round about November two years ago. We did a round trip from the huts, approaching the peak from the northern side and descending off the southern side. It was pretty easy, mostly just moderate to steepish rock and scree scrambling with the odd snow patch on the upper slopes. A long tongue of snow on the south side made for good bumsliding! Worthwhile chucking the ice axe/crampons in but in our case we could have easily got away without them.

Probably your biggest worry would be rain, as its quite gorgy coming up the Hodder and can flood pretty impressively!
