Hi there!
While researching my November Stay on the South Island, I've learnt that we get 10% off the ****ing expensive huts,campsites on the great walks.
BUT you need to book at a DOC office so they can check the FMC membership(*).

(*) the DOC staff was unsure, finally they wanted a backcountry hut pass with a FMC ...

I'll run a medium - medium fit trip this weekend: The loop track from Otaki Forks, Waitewaewae Hut, Aokaparangi (Biv), Maungahuka Hut, Kime, Field Hut and back to Otaki Forks (this is clockwise, we might go the other way round...), see another post for more details .

It looks like I'll meet up with a friend in national park and walk the Northern Circuit - or what is remaining. As it is still off-season, the huts are reasonably priced (i.e. included in the hut pass). Keen to join? The more the merrier!
