    Hey! nice to hear from soon to arrive climbers! The club has ice axes and crampons available to borrow free (for members) but these are mostly non technical so if you have steep ice gear its worth somehow packing in. (Bearing in mind also that ice in NZ usually is far enough out of the way that we camp/ cave at the ice, so all the cold weather ...

    I would use plastics at less than 7000m :) &nbsp; or good insulated leather/ gortex boots. I imagine guiding companies in&nbsp;&nbsp; Something burly i think, there are a few mountaineering boots on trademe atm but nothing size 12-13&nbsp; Bivouac only rents hiking boots i think, nothing solid enough for Aconcagua. I would think renting fomr ...

    hmmm,im off climbing for at least a month now :( just booked my ferry ticket for the 15th at 8.25am and i intend to go to Terra's party on the 14th so think i will have to pass on this one mikey, sorry :( shouldnt be too hard to drum up interest though!

    Anyone have opinions on Fairydown Resolution Gore tex single wall tents? I guess they are old enough to be pre fairydown sell out and the specs are good. Anyone been in one? they seem to pop on trademe regularly and there is one up now. I wander how good it would be for darrans excursions to remote walls, looks like it would pitch well on a ledge ...

    My 2c, Minaret is a excellent tent, the workmanship quality difference between the club ones and the new ones is probably negligible. It is definitely worth checking the ratings on both models though, they will be identical i expect. Katmandhu already makes a line of *** tents, they dont need another one i guess! I would also say...buy an msr ...
