    Carkeek after its interior and exterior paint job in 2004.&nbsp; Dry wood can be a problem up in the mist at Carkeek, please fill the wood bin before leaving, good wood can be found if you walk more than 2 mins from the hut. Sleeps: Six Heating: Wood burner but note comment about wood. Camping: Limited, but we did get 18 people here one ...

  • Bannister from Pinnacle Spur

    The imposing lump of&nbsp;Bannister lies over the other side of Arete stream in this view from Pinnacle Spur.&nbsp; Pinnacle&nbsp;Spur is the quickest route between Arete Biv and Arete Forks.

    Bannister is a gnarly ridge by Tararua standards with a few scrambles like this one.&nbsp; Great fun on a good day, can be slippery in the wet!
