    It may be best if both of you get some decent boots first :plight tramping boots wont really cut it!!   I also may be able to source some snowshoes through people i know in the alpine club/from work....

    best to head down on the 17th or 18th - you would not want to miss my 21st birthday would you?!?was thinking of heading down to the fox neve, do a bit of skiing/climbing down there on the other side of the alps... though i could be tempted by tasman or silberhorn in winter... o_O

    Another option instead of buying a season pass is get some ski touring gear and just skin everywhere, avoid the lift queues and get off the mail trails (well, all the trails really)   Im starting to lean that way myself - less people to laugh at me falling over im sure!

    Andrea and I plan on doing a bit of skiing this year - she even convinced me to buy a pair of skis (Ski and camp have closed down and had a sale on a few weeks ago :p)... now just need some touring bindings, skins and a way to make them fit my mountaineering boots...Ollie

    wow, thats commitment, posting at 1.30am....and you sure swimming is a good idea roudn there? i believe there is quite a strong undertow... mind you, depending on how deep the river is, you may need your togs for that....
