The Greens and Vic club and gecko have been thinking about participating in the 350 global day of action that takes place on October the 24th of this year. Groups around the globe will be joining together in a global day of action in order to send a global message to governments that they need to start acting on climate change. Governments need to set realistic emission targets at the intergovernmental meeting on climate change in Copenhagen in december in order for our planet to even have a chance. Instead of us working separately on this one issue we have decided to join forces with as many groups on campus that are keen to get involved. This way we can create a huge event that brings together as many students as possible. This is a really important issue that everyone should be a part of. If we can get a good student response then we can send a unique message as a student body to the government. It would awesome to get a broad group of us and we can really come up with some crazy ideas for one huge event. If groups would like to send interested members along who can participate in a planning meeting, also to have someone as representative of your group so that they can report back to you on whatever ideas we come up with.Meeting time : 4 pm in common room of student union building on monday the 10th.If this time doesn't work for a lot of people we can work something else out for next time.
