Stephen Venables, mountaineer, writer, broadcaster and public speaker, was the first Briton to climb Everest without supplementary oxygen. He reached the summit alone, after climbing with a small American Canadian team, by a new route up the gigantic Kangshung Face. His adventures have also taken him to the Rockies, Andes, South Georgia, East & South Africa and the European Alps, where he has climbed and skied for over forty years. This is Stephen's first ever visit to New Zealand. His lecture tour, Himalayan Odyssey, will consist of six evenings in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Wanaka and Melbourne. - Wellington Room 101, MacLaurin Building, Victoria University Kelburn Campus Tuesday 1 September, 7.30pm Tickets available at Bivouac Wellington or by contacting Steve at sm@nzalpine.wellington.net.nz - New Zealand ticket prices; NZAC Members $12, Non-members $15
You can also visit Stephens own website, www.stephenvenables.com, as well as the Facebook page with more details of the tour. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/event.php?eid=97830621767&ref=mf
