Here is a message from a local Scout leader. They'd like to know if anyone is interested in working with local Scouts. Contact me if you're keen.
Message as follows:
I am writing to ask whether any of your members are
interested in working with our Scouts. We are looking for active people
who enjoy working outdoors and with young teenagers aged between 10 1/2
to 14 years. Scouts meet once a week during school term for two hours
and some preplanning time is usually required. Scouts also hold
occasional weekend camps. Parents also assist in running the sessions and
providing support through an administrative committee. No experience is
necessary as the Scouts organisation offers full training and support and
provides national programs which can be used or adapted to suit the needs of
the group and leader. While we cannot offer payment, as Scouts is a voluntary
organisation, involvement with Scouts can be helpful for future career
development, especially those contemplating human resource management,
management or any career working with children – teaching , medicine etc,
or for careers involving outdoor work as Scouting has a very practical skill
base. In addition Leaders and assistants have access to Scout huts
located throughout the country.
