Hi,
next weekend (May 8 and 9) we have rockcraft II, which will be at Wharepapa in the mighty Waikato!
We will climb, teach rope skills like how to belay and attach yourself to the rope, climb, and for those who are keen, we will teach how to lead climb. As with the philosophy of climbing, we will also sit in the sun and for those who wish, have a drink after climbing. You don't need to be an amazing climber to come on this trip. We can teach anything that you don't know.
If you don't have climbing shoes, it is a good idea to hire some for the weekend. The club does have some old shoes of varying sizes that people have donated, but you will get a lot more enjoyment out of the weekend with a good pair of climbing shoes. Fergs Kayaks where we climb on Wednesdays hire shoes.
We will drive up on the Friday night and come back late on Sunday.
Tom and I are organising the trip, so let us know that you are keen.
My email is michael.instone@hotmail.com I don't have Tom's email, but you can also send us messages through the website.
The area where we will be climbing has a range of grades for all levels of climbers. Most of the climbs are bolted, which will be good for learning to lead climb.
At the next meeting, Tom and I will give a quick presentation about the rockcraft weekend.
Thanks,
Mikey
