The New Year plan - Golden Bay

    The New Year Plan

Hello all. I am attempting to string together a loose New Year plan so that we have something that will work out. This has been through a rigorous consultation process where all of the key stakeholders have been approached (all of the car drivers). Well seriously several of us have been having a chat and we have come up with the following loose plan for our golden bay excursions.

We are looking for a central base to stay at that is close to the main attractions of golden bay. The idea is to have everyone stay there so that people can go off and do things with their day there are pleanty of options for stuff to do and it is a good old social time – weather it is climbing swimming day walking and at the end of the day we can get together for a few drinks and a BBQ. There are quite a mob of us and really too many to be imposing on Terra’s Mum for the whole time.  So this is the plan we have decided on

    • From the 28th December to the 2nd January (and perhaps beyond) We are going to stay at Hangdog near Payne’s Ford. It is a really cool camping ground with climbing / swimming hole and Takaka nearby. It has showers / toilets and is pretty cheep $5 per night. They are pretty relaxed so you really only have to pay for the nights you stay (ay if you went off for a tramp) Some of the activities that could be happening from here will be:
    •

      • Climbing
      •

      • Swimming in the river
      •

      • Swimming at the beach
      •

      • Buying hippy clothing
      •

      • Road tripping around the area
      •

      • Day walks tramping
      •

      • Checking out farewell spit
      •

      • Checking out Whanganui inlet
      •

    • For New Year’s eve we are going to go to the Mussel Inn. We will drive there and take some Tent’s we will party most of the night then retire to our tents nearby when exhausted. The next day we will drive back to Hangdog
    •

    • A group is heading off on the 2nd for the Olivine’s.
    •

    • From the 2nd the group will probably split up to go and do different things such as Kayaking Mountain biking tramping or more climbing
    •

What we need to get things rolling

    • A large house tent could be good
    •

    • Various tents for staying in (sort yourselves out)
    •

    • A BBQ for cooking on
    •

    • Gas rings could be good but otherwise we can take club cookers for the boild up variety
    •

    • Chilly bins (bring 1 per car)
    •

    • Large quantities of booze slabs / crates / casks 40oz bottles
    •
