    Re: Mt Matthews 15-17.6.?

    Yeah right, Katriina,

Let's do something exciting! How about the Kapakapanui track near Waikanae (Kapiti Coast; GPS-coordinates: 40deg.56' 01.3' S; 175deg.09' 51.07' E)? Apparently it's a classic tramping club daytrip, but I haven't done it so far. Nice native bush, about 740m (hopefully just below the clouds) and -maybe- good views across to tararua main range and the coastline on the other side.

The latest metservice forecast says cloudy with some rain, light southerly winds, 5-10degrees for the next couple of days. Might change later on.

What day do you guys have in focus, anyway? Sat. or Sunday? Or may the weather decide!

Bon appetit, Jess (and be aware of subsequent drowsiness from donutting around up on campus)! - But there is light at the end of the tunnel: The flatrate-learning is only temporary!

    Cheers,

    Nicolai

Actually Kapakapanui sounds cooler than Red Rocks. Anyone else up for it?

I'd be able to go either Saturday or Sunday, doesn't really bother me.

Cool idea! The only problem: The next proper cave, to my knowledge, is about 4hrs drive away. -One way. A bit too much for a daytrip I reckon...

    Re: Mt Matthews 15-17.6.?

Ok, so who's up for the Kapakapanui, Saturday (tomorrow), the 15th, meet 9:30am on Hunter Carpark Vic Uni?

Bring waterproof jacket, hat, hiking boots, camera (optional) & lots of food. See you there (if there aren't any opposing issues).

Be either with US or with the OTHERS ;)  (sorry, the category "terrorists" doesn't fit into this subdivision of the world).

    Cheers,

Yep, sounds good. i think I'm in as well as my friend. Do we have enough cars?

    Re: Mt Matthews 15-17.6.?

Have got 4 more seats so would be fine. If you think it's a bit crammed (but think about climate chnage, too...) then Cam might drive, too (?).

I'd kinda like to leave return time open; hard to estimate how fit you guys are, how the conditions are like and stuff. All I know at this stage is that it gets dark at around 5pm and it takes about 50min to get there by car -dependent on traffic. So could be back around 6pm (roughly).
