Tramping in the USA

Having graduated VUW and left NZ exactly one month ago, I returned home to Florida, USA. I find I am at a loss in terms of adequate tramping, at least when compared to glorious NZ. Recently, I did something similar to tramping [tropical storm Fay (google it)] but alas, it was no substitute. So in the spirit of VUWTC, I am going to a place called the Ocala National Forest for some good old-school bushbashing. I'll keep everyone updated as your foreign US correspondent. Look to trip reports in a few weeks.

Slight change of plans. Due to bad weather, we have pushed back the departure date until Monday July 7th. What this does to Arthur's Pass is yet to be determined. Stay tuned and I will have firm dates by Monday morning. The more folks we bring, the better it will be and the further we can go. So let's get some trampin' done eh?

Return to Arthur's Pass

I just graduated from Vic Uni and was planning a trip down South. I have a friend coming from the USA and we are going from Abel Tasman to Hephrey to Nelson Lakes, and finally Arthur's Pass before heading into Christchurch. I would have loved to go on the Midwinter trip but, unfortunately, it was all booked up. That being said, who's up for going/returning to Arthur's Pass for a good solid 4 to 5 day tramp? We're of medium fitness (but not quite medium fit) and would welcome some experienced company.

We are leaving for the south island on July 5th and will likely be in Arthur's Pass by the 15th. If that date is good for anyone, let me know and we can firm things up from there.
