Party!!!! Friday the 13th - 8pm onwards

Do you feeling lucky? Well do ya, punk?

As a way to throw off the mid-winter blues and celebrate the most unlucky day of the year, the Tramping club is throwing a party! So if you're looking to warm up, chill out and get down then pop on over and join us.

Where: Bryan's place - 370 Tinakori Rd, Throndon. Click here for a map. Just grab the number 3 bus and jump off at the Botanic Garden, its the place next the dentists.
When: Friday the 13th (oohhhh!) - 8pm onwards
Why: Cause parties are awesome!
Details: BYO, dress as something unlucky if you can be bothered (you know, like a broken mirror or a black cat) but otherwise no theme, just good times.

Acoutic Lounge - Miri's 3rd NZ gig - San Fran Bathhouse this Thursday 6-8pm

Hey all,

just thought I'd let people know that one of our newest members is also a bit of a musical talent and is playing a gig at the San Francisco Bathhouse this Thursday (29th). Miri is playing as part of their Acoustic Lounge set which promises to rock socks and blow minds.

The event starts at 6 and runs till about 8 so come along and check it out but be prepared for awesome :)

Hi all,

so this Saturday night after Rockcraft I is the first Tramping Club party of the year. Details are as follows:

Place: 370 Tinakori Rd, Thorndon (see map here)

When: 8 o'clock, Saturday 20th March

Directions: Its just over from the botanical gardens, about half way between the Chinese embassy and the Bowen St lights and about 15min walk from Lambton Quay or just catch the Number 3 bu

s up to the botanical gardens and walk on over. There'll be balloons on the lamp post outside.

What else: There's no theme, just come as you are. Its a BYO for drinks and there's a BBQ there if you want to cook anything.

The first party is always a huge event so come along a join in the festivities.

I hope to see you all there :)

P.S. I have notoriously bad taste in music (by most people standards) so if you have good party music its best advised to bring it along with ya!

Hey Terra,

just in regards to the submission, I'm pretty sure that you've spelt damn wrong. It should be dam/damming. The way it is now gives a slightly different meaning. Also, I don't mind the use of strong language but you opening sentence is perhap overstating things a bit. Perhaps it would be better to state our concern and upmost disapproval of the dam rather than using word "disturbed" right at the beginning. Maybe use it later in the text but I feel the submission should convey our feelings regarding this issue with tack and diplomacy before issuing such an emotive statement. It risks the submission being dismissed offhand as not having depth of any understanding concerning this issue and making it about our own personal feelings rather the best/right options for New Zealand and its environment.

Awesome, BANFF time.

I can't wait, this years line up looks cool (as always). To anyone who hasn't been before, this is the coolest set of short films to come out this year and is totally inspiring due to its amazingly awesomeness. Even looks likes a bit of Sharma action for all the climbing nuts out there :)

Climbing - Easter Weekend!!! Wharepapa and Waipapa

Howdy all,

Just thought I'd let everyone know that there's a climbing trip going on heading somewhere up the North Island. The ultimate destination is Wharepapa and Waipapa but may include stops at almost any of the North Island Crags including: Ruapehu, Whanganui Bay, Kinloch or Karakara Bay or some combination of them. Nothing is set in stone yet but the loose plan is as follows

1) leave 7pm Thursday, drive to some remote location and camp the night

2) proceed to the first crag and climb, leave at night and either head to camp near another crag or head straight to Wharepapa/Waipapa.

3) If we didn't head to Wharepapa/Waipapa then climb where ever we are at and then decamp to Wharepapa/Waipapa, staying at the local school or if necessary at the Woolshed down the road at Castle Rock.

4) Climb to our hearts content and relax a bit (possibly with a brew or two well earned), leaving on Tuesday perhaps after another spot of you guessed it, Climbing :) !!

Right now there are 3 cars heading up and there's still some space left too, so if you're interested then drop me a line either on this thread or text me on 027 3030254. Should be a blast!

Yeah, swimming around there is a bit dodgy, especially on the southern edge where it looks real dangerous, but apparently up the east shore on the inside of the habour (north of the rock) its possible to go swimming. In fact Yannick went for a refreshing skinny drip after the bouldering competition! I'm not sure about the river down by the rocks, it doesn't flow to the sea at this time of year and so may be a bit stagnant but its probably good closer to where we'll park the cars. Baring Head - This Saturday!! (15/03) + Directions!!

Howdy all,

Thought I might let those who don't know know what going on this Saturday. Its the first Rock Craft trip of the year and we're heading to a secluded bouldering wonderland called Baring Head. Its about 40 minute drive around the habour + 15min walk along the beach to get there. It'll cost you nothing but $5 to cover petrol for your driver. We're meeting at the Hunter Carpark at Uni (behind the student union building) at 9a.m. or whenever you can coerce your driver out of bed. Its recommended that you bring:

1) yourself

2) sunblock

3) water

4) something to eat/snack on (there'll be a bbq taken along, just bring some meat or whatever)

5) something to drink (optional but nothing beats a cold brew while climbing)

6) togs/swim wear (again optional, swimming in recommended only at certain places around the head or the in the river)

7) sturdy shoes to climb in

8) sense of adventure :)

There's plenty of bouldering there and we'll also set up some top ropes and bring harnesses and shoes for people to use. Directions are fairly straight forward and its hard to get lost.

1) get form uni to the motorway and head North

2) take State Highway 2 until the Petone exit (if you hit big roadworks you've gone too far)

3) go over the bridge and right at the round-about and head along the Petone waterfront - keep going all the way and go over the next bridge

4) go right at the first round about and head toward Seaview (third exit on to Seaview Rd, across the bridge), turn left at the next round-about

5) follow the signs to Wainuiomatua (second right and then first left) an you'll start heading up a hill after going through a short tunnel

6) drive up and over the hill and back down, this takes you into Wainuiomatua, turn right at the round-about and just follow this road (Wainuiomatua Rd)

7) watch out for the speed camera and keep following this road, turning right/going straight at each round (along Main Rd)

8) eventually the town will disappear and you'll be on Coast rd which you follow until almost the bitter end. Park next to the road down by the beach with the rest of the cars and walk east until you hit the big rock like boulders which are made of rock. You are now at Baring Head :)
