I have to be out of my house in two weeks so am trawling the internet flat hunting! If anyone is trying to find a flatmate, or you know of someone who is trying to find a flatmate by the end of May, could you let me know?

I promise I don't smell!

Cheers,

I know how it feels to be small and carry great weights!

My pack last year was pretty light (probably just over 16kg) cause I went in a group with 9 people and as I had just injured my back the week before didn't have to carry a dinner. However at Nelson Lakes 2006 my pack was probably around 20kg. So you can get the weight down a bit.

The key thing on Mid-Winter is food. So try and get stuff that is as light as possible, ie crackers for lunch with salami and cheese, that can also go on dinner. Museli bars, and chocolate, and cereal or something for snacks and brekky. And for dinner try taking something like those continental pasta packets with dehy peas and corn for however many people end up in the group.

The lighter you can get things, the more fun the trip is!

Really didn't get around much on the two planks of wood the last two years, and of course it's so handy for climbing...

So while that's all good for them, I will be getting back to the city during February and will have to find somewhere else to live! So if anyone knows of someone who is looking for another flatmate could they let me know? My email is probably on the website somewhere.

I don't really smell, despite what Annabel says...

Andrea :)

Celebrating summer! (and end of exams)

Hey All,

As it is nearing to that lovely time of year when the sun shines every day (not sure if Wellington counts though) I thought it might be appropriate to celebrate summer! (And after all the study I have done I feel I deserve some serious drinking time!)

Is anyone up for a bit of a wander around the pubs in Wellington on Wednesday evening?

We could meet at the Flying Burrito Brothers as I really want to try their Margaritas again!

If you're keen send me text on 027 698 7592 or email me or something!

This is a great opportunity to learn (and practice) all those tramping skills you've probably heard of: setting up tents that hopefully won't fall down in a breeze, river crossing techniques that mean you don't get swept away in NZ's angry rivers, navigation using maps and compasses (always useful and challenging in a white out in the Tararuas) and a bit of experience of tramping the old-fashioned way - off track. There might even be a few new easter egg trees spontaneously fruiting, although I can't guarantee you'll find them.

The plan is to head into the Tararuas on Friday night, so meet in the Hunter carpark at 6pm. Come along to the meeting this Tuesday to sign up, and to hear a bit more about what's happening, and perhaps learn a few more tips about using this wonderful website. If you can't make the meeting, send me an email on loganandr@student.vuw.ac.nz and I'll try and get you into a group.
