Goodbye Drinks

Hello anyone not on Facebook or who I forgot to email....

I'm about to depart for a new job in Whakatane, and Tim has super extremely amazingly kindly offered to host some goodbye drinks, so if you can make it to 5 Howard St, Mt Cook (the Wellington one!) after 7.30 tomorrow night (ie: Friday the 30th) would be great to say au revoir! Otherwise come visit me in the bright lights of the Bay of Plenty!

Peak 2 Powderkeg

Hey, just wondering if anyone is potentially keen for the Peak to Powderkeg this weekend? Involves skiing down the slopes, running and cycling down the road then a beer scull at the end! Kind of banking on the beer scull being the key to success rather than having any form of fitness! Meant to be on Saturday, but weather is looking bit dodgy so could be Sunday. Was thinking could involve some kind of costume too!

Anyway let me know if you're keen, me and a friend are probably heading up anyway, it can be done individually or as a team.

Adios amigos, hope you have an awesome year full of heaps of fun adventures!! Sorry didn't get the chance to say bye properly to many people, am definitely staying far far away from tequila shots for the next little while! Anyway so smell you all later in the year, and stay in touch!

Aloha!

Is anyone keen for a tramp (scandalous suggestion!!) this weekend? I'm keen as beans to get back into the Tararuas before departing the country, just need some wily accomplices! I don't really have any set ideas of where to go and am keen for pretty much anything (although probably not a mad 27 hour traverse like certain other people...)

Found: one sling on Mt Sealy!!

Just wondering if anyone can help clear up a little mystery here in Mt Cook.....

A group of us from the village went on a day trip up Mt Sealy on Saturday and on our way down paused to examine the slings left behind by people abseiling off etc. Imagine our surprise when one of them was labelled VUWTC! Looked like had been dropped rather than used to abseil off, anyway it's currently sitting on my floor and was just wondering if anyone knew how it got there (my prime suspect at this stage is a certain Mr Oliver Tuohy!)

Hey again Jamie, yeah not sure will work out- we've just broken our boss here's truck so trying not to ask him anything (like finishing earlier than I'm meant to) for a little while... Hey Jamie happy new years!! I'm potentially pretty keen for that, only flaw is I'm meant to be working here in Mt Cook til the 20th... Are you planning on starting the tramp on the 16th or leaving Wellington then?

Lol that's a very Terra response!! I think the mountains are enjoying a summer of not being terrorised by you (jsut kidding, they're all still depressed at having such miserable names)!!! Ooh anyway exciting, I didn't really have any strong ideas, had sort of thought of Stewart Island but that probably invovles lots of complicated planning (and doesn't have any crazy climbing for crazy people!!) But am pretty flexible, and will have Mavis (although she'll be really quite full of stuff!) But Takaka ways would be pretty cool!

And Jeremy, guess was looking at something pretty much straight from here, I finish work Friday 20 Feb, Sarah and Roseanna are finishing a week earlier so that's potentially an option too, just figured if leaving Wellington again on 7th March didn't want to spend 3 weeks in Wellington or would wind up spending half my savings on wine or something silly like that so that's my main motivation for staying on til the end of our (pretty flexible) contract. Ooh and very welcome to visit at any stage!

Anyway let me know what you reckon!

Random South Island trip after 20 Feb....

Heyhey and happy new years...

Just doing some scheming as to how I'm going to get back home when I finish up here in Mt Cook and was vaguely thinking it might be cool to do some kind of exciting South Island mission on the way back to Wellington. No idea where or who with. Anyway sure probably doesn't fit in with anything anyone else is doing and I should probably be sorting stuff out for 6 months in Asia at that stage, but just a passing thought, flick me an email (walk_in_the_dream@hotmail.com- I'm not using my uni address messages from this website go to anymore), if you're potentially keen for something somewhere.....
