The Dark Glow of the Mountains

A voyage into the Himalayas with the great mountain climber Reinhold Messner, with fellow climber Hans Kammerlander, decides to climb two eight-thousanders consecutively - Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II. What makes this undertaking all the more extraordinary is the fact that the two climbers set off on their expedition without oxygen tanks, taking only their backpacks. During the preparations for the climb, Herzog speaks to Messner about his past expeditions.
