Banner Painters needed.

The Wellington Young Greens are painting some banners to donate to other Green Party campus groups around the country and on Tuesday 27 January will be having a 'banners and beer' evening and we hope you can help us. Join us from 6pm to paint some banners (no skills necessary), have as few drinks (BYO), and listen to some music. Bring old clothes or we have over-suits to save your clothes.

Young Greens Summer Camp this Waitangi Weekend (6-7 February) at Jeanette Fitzsimon's farm in the Corromandel.

With the General Election all over and done with its time to take stock, celebrate our successes and great campaign and also plan for the future.

Over Waitangi Weekend 2009 young Green Party members (up to 30 years of age) from over Aotearoa are going to camp together at Jeanette's farm to plan the upcoming Young Greens year. Early in 2008, 35 Young Greens had a great time at the first camp and in 2009, we want to make it bigger with more events and more fun. We are going to cram as much as we can into two and a half days. We are going to have our Annual General Meeting and elect officials; decide on our priority campaigns; discuss how the election went; and workshops facilitated by Young Green members...and also hang out with Jeanette, watch some films, connect with nature, camp in the orchard and swim in the watering hole.

We have an awesome schedule of workshops planned – on economic issues, Transition Towns, open source software, the Global Young Greens, Youtubeing, effective campaign communication and public relations tricks and tips, social media campaigning, running campus groups – and new MP Catherine Delahunty and Co-Leader Jeanette Fitzsimons will also be there.

A summer weekend of good green fun!

There is no registration cost at this time (we are looking for a donor to provide food costs…know anyone?) and we are planning to coordinate car sharing vehicles.

The times will be:

Hi there,

Hope you are all having a fabulicious holiday and a swell summer.

We are sending out this e-mail to give you a heads-up about Oxfam New Zealand's recently launched 'Feel the Heat' climate change campaign which- amongst other things- gives you the chance to exercise your right to lobby our government by signing the 'Feel the Heat' petition. This petition can be found on Oxfam New Zealand's website www.oxfam.org.nz Just follow the climate change link found on the left hand side of the page.

Oxfam looks at Climate Change from the perspective of development and social justice. Climate change hits the poorest people first and worst, a grave injustice because these people are the least responsible for climate change and the least able to cope. The petition calls for the NZ government to take stronger action against climate change and to push for an effective climate change deal at the upcoming UN Copenhagen conference this year that not only keeps climate change under control, but also places the needs of developing countries at the heart of the deal.

For more information about how Climate Change impacts the world's poorest, about what the petition is calling for, or to sign the petition, visit www.oxfam.org.nz
