Hey, I am ultra keen to go, not so much skiing, but ill do my own thing take myself off somewhere... but in general am keen!

Some of us are also keen to go skiing for a day - I won't be at the meeting on Tuesday (going to the mountain film festival) but email me and Terra if you're interested so we can sort out transport...

Also, are people keen to add some climbing into this? I was thinking one day helping them, one day climbing at Mongatapopo or Whanganui bay? Some others are also keen to add some tramping in. Might even be some snow left for mountain pursuits. Or we could spend the weekend at the farm.

So just tell me what you are keen to do and I will tell Dan how many of us to expect and what day etc.

I asked Dan if there was anything he would like us to do the weekend of Nov. 8th and 9th. His reply:

Hi Terra,

Sounds like you'd be a good hardy crew. That's a busy time of year with blue ducklings arriving and many other things on. We'll come up with a project of surveying, trapping or tramping tracks for you guys, or a combination of these.

For scant students just bring your sleeping bags and we'll bunk you in somewhere.

How does this work for people? It is the only date I can do before next year, but if no one can make it we could do it early next year.

Its worth checking out whether they are looking for a one off trip or an ongoing committment, as it varies. The one we did in Kaimanawas for TNHS was a onecer, and hey will probably be doing the same thing this summer. Also DoC has heaps of volunteer work from November to March, usually a week at a time. I can definitely recommend that.

But, if you want to see a Blue Duck just head to one of the Ruahine rivers - Apias Ck is very good, or even better up a West Coast river!!
