As a keen diver and snorkeler for many years I can thoroughly recommend it. If you ever wondered what being weightless in space is like scuba is much the same (having spent a lot of time in space I would know this!!! Well I expect it's much the same) The ocean floor is really like a whole new world to explore and it really does change just as much from one location to the next like you're used to on land.

Enjoy you're course guys, and savor that first underwater breath: it's awesome!

I'm keen to come along / take you out one weekend after you've gotten your tickets.

Hey -we have a space or two in a a PADI open water course this weekend and next weekend, the 19th-20th April, then 26th-27th April. It is discounted quite a bit (from the usual $425) to $305 with your own wetsuit/mask/fins, or $345 if you need to rent the gear.

You should be come climbing then not messing around in the water! :) Though actually I'd be very keen to learn scuba if it wasn't over ANZAC weekend...

Have you been thinking of doing a PADI open water SCUBA course? Great -I need you!

It lets you SCUBA dive in open water down to 18m - great for holidays to tropical places, or exploring Wellington's south coast.

I am trying to organise a private course with New Zealand Sea Adventures www.scubadiving.co.nz/ so that I can fit it in before I leave New Zealand in May. Annabel the Awesome (Not Annabel the Smelly who some of you may have met) is keen too.

The course is two full weekends - the 19th-20th April, then 26th-27th April. It costs $425 usually for everything provided(which is the cheapest in Wellington -as it also includes the hire of mask, fins, gloves etc which other courses don't) But it doesn't give you free diving on weekend afterward -just a discount.

If you have some snorkel gear already then it is cheaper -and the more people we get the cheaper will get too. Plus you will get to enjoy hanging out with other members of the tramping club
