Carola and I would be keen to join you guys on the Nelson Lakes mission. Had a brief chat with Hazel about it yesterday. Would be cool to get together again to have a look at the relevant maps. - Guess what: Carola bought a new pack at Kathmandu today... and I spend quite a few dollars there as well. Sooo many bargains...

As far as the TUBING trip goes: I found two more wetsuits, one for Alyn and another one for Craig, there might be another one for Shawn, as well.
All of them are 8/7mm 2piece wetsuits with hood. That's what you possibly need I guess. I could also bring my short sleeved one I have worn exactly once... Too chilly in Wellington waters. Someone could give it a go in combination with polyprops and/or a neoprene shirt. - However, I wasn`t able to find any inner tubes.

At this stage my plans are to head south with Kieran and co for a trip to the Olivine Ice Plateau right after New Year and then perhaps some shorter trips in the Mt Cook area after that around 16th Jan, but I could help you out with suggestions as there may be others keen for tramping in similar areas at that time. Will keep you posted on plans.

Hi Alyn, are you still keen on doing a short tramp sometime in the 6th to 10th of Jan bracket? I'll be around the central South Island area around that time, Otago / Canterbury - maybe Arthurs' Pass

Christmas Tramping in the Nelson Lakes anybody?

Hello Everyone

On 21 December, Hazel and I along with one other are heading down for some Xmas tramping into the Nelson Lakes area. The current plan is to head into the Raglan Range for some more remoter country. The trip will be for 5 days and coming out on Boxing Day afternoon.

Our plan is to ferry down on Fri 21 Dec on the 7pm Bluebridge sailing, stay in Picton and then Saturday travel down to the Wairau Hanmer Springs Hydro Road to the Hellfire Stream road end. However one of us has pulled out leaving three from an intended 4 people and so we’re opening up the trip to anybody else that may be interested.

The fitness level would be medium to fit, with probably one easish day around Xmas to enjoy a few goodies.

If interested I can provide more detailed trip plans.
