In general I like the idea of cycling to a tramp, but the 90km Renwick-St Arnaud are a horribly boring exercise for a 3 day weekend. I'd prefer to hire a car.

The plan is kind of that...

So far, I'm taking the 1.30OPM ferry to Picton and bking down to Nelson lakes...
Sat, I walk to hopeless hut and stay there for the night...
On Sunday a quick ascend to Mt Hopeless (weather dependent) and back to speargrass hut.
Quick out on Monday and bike back to Picton as my ferry back is @8AM on Tuesday, so I need to be in Picton around 7AM for check in.

Another 3 people and we hire car otherwise...

I like the idea. Thought to do the Tararua Northern Crossing, maybe I should come to Nelson Lakes as well.
What are your plans?

Hello all.

Another long weekend is coming and an opportunity to get around as well... :)

I will be heading off to Nelson Lakes on Friday and back on Tuesday. I'm catching the ferry to Picton on Friday 1.30PM and catching the 8AM ferry on Tuesday back to our beautiful Welly.

Let me know if you're intesrested on that as I would need to sort transport.
