for those not going up to Tongariro this weekend there will also be a tubing trip down the Hutt gorge running either Saturday or Sunday (weather depenedent, looks like Sunday better at the moment). If you're not familiar with tubing, this is where we jump in some inflatable truck tyre inner tubes and chuck ourselves down a river with lots of rapids in it!

Sound like fun? To come along you need:

a wetsuit. This is essential as it gets pretty cold after 3-4 hours in the water!

confidence in the water (ie can swim)

sturdy footwear to protect your feet from the rocks

Have a look at the dive shops if you need to hire a wetsuit (or try to borrow one). Depending on numbers we can provide the tubes, but if you want to get your own guaranteed non-holy one then Beaurepairs Kaiwharawhara is a good place to start (they give old ones away free).

If you want to come along let me know tonight or email me at patonomatic@gmail.com. Also let me know if you can bring a car.

Cheers
