Righto here is the marvellous plan for the weekend after consideration of the way the weather is going to play out and what people want to do we are doing are going Friday night and coming back Saturday afternoon and doing the following:

Plan

Meeting at the Hunter car park 6:00pm Friday night
Driving straight to the Kapakapanui road end (make sure you have had dinner, have snacks, have breakfast and lunch for Saturday)
Walking to Kapakapanui Hut (2-3 hours) and staying there for the night
On Saturday, walking over the tops then out to the car.

If anyone else would like to come and or you would like to bring a friend there is plenty of space even especially if we get more people with cars but let me know if you are going to come (even if it is at 5:00pm Friday night).

Stuff to bring

The gear off our gear list make sure you have it, if you don’t let me know we will probably be able to get it for you (remember it is over night so a sleeping bag would be a good idea)
A torch – we will have some walking in the dark (let me know if you have troubles with this)
Snacks + 1 breakfast + 1 Lunch
Alcohol to celebrate our arrival at the hut

It will be a fun trip and a good way to get into the hills or to give tramping a try. If you have any questions please let me know. So please come along and join in the fun

A short weekend trip

This weekend I am planning a short overnight social trip to Kapakapanui Hut. The trip is running along side the more keen trip planned for the weekend

The Plan is

Leave Saturday afternoon. Do some shopping for food and booze on the way
Make the short walk to Kapakapanui hut (2-3 hours)
Walk over the tops on Sunday and back out to the car Sunday afternoon (3-4 hours)

The trip will be easy and is suited to anyone who is interested in going tramping

If you are interested in coming along. Please let me know so that I can compile a list and get some more details to you

There is also scope for flexibility in this trip as in. If people want we could go Friday afternoon / evening and be back on Saturday or we could go somewhere else so let me know your preference
