Further, or in addition to this would anyone be keen to shadow a Duke of Edinburgh tramping party? They are a keen group of 1st year venturers trying to finish their Gold Duke of Edinburgh. They would like to complete their gold tramp before the end of January but need to do a practice tramp first and then notify the DoE 6 weeks prior to the actual gold tramp.

They need an experienced tramper or two to accompany them as a shadow party for both the practice tramp and the actual gold tramp. The tramp needs to be 3 nights (50-60km) and they are looking at doing a trip from Otaki forks going over the Southern crossing then to Elder hut etc, or a round trip involving the Peaks ladder or really any tramp that the shadow party wants to do that fits the requirements. For the practice tramp they are looking at doing a tramp around Cow Creek hut-Arete forks Hut or Mangahao flats hut to Te Matawai and they would ideally like to do their practice tramp on 19-21 December.

I'm busy that weekend but it would be a great three day tramping opportunity. If anyone can help out for any of these tramps please contact Sarah Fisher on iloveanimalz_@hotmail.com

Not a member yet, but just joined the UNI (for PhD studies). Planning to become a member of the club. Would love to go on trip before/and during Christmas vacation (20th Dec - 4th Jan any period).

Probably will be at the next Tues meeting :)

Is anyone interested in doing an extended trip around the weekend before Christmas? Leaving around the 19th / 20th for 4 - 5 days?
